Accessible Information Standard (AIS)

We have recently coordinated a project between the 4 local Healthwatch (Hampshire, IOW, Southampton and Portsmouth) to develop our understanding of the Accessible Information Standard and how widely it is being used. Each Healthwatch reached out to local organisations, coproducing workshops and meetings to hear first hand experience about the way people are communicated with regarding their health and care.

We engaged with 118 people from a range of groups and geographies, including those with learning disabilities, neuro divergence, sight and visual impairments and their parents, carers and support workers. The feedback we received highlighted some changes that need to be made, and the groups we worked with were able to suggest some great solutions moving forwards.

We hope the findings of this work will provide the Integrated Care System with better knowledge to deliver the requirements of the Accessible Information Standard. Find out more about our findings here.
