The Big Conversation Isle of Wight
The Big Conversation is an exciting project that will enable people who use adult social care services on the Isle of Wight to contribute and have a voice in decisions about the services they receive. The project will start in the the new year 2025.
The aim of the Big Conversation project is to make sure that anyone who lives on the Isle of Wight and wants to take part is able to share their thoughts, opinions and ideas about what will help them to live happy, healthy, lives.
We want to ensure that all residents feel that the Big Conversation is for them and is something they are part of, and that they have the opportunity to contribute to developing the Isle of Wight Councils Happy, Healthy, Lives Strategy.
How will we do this:
- We will train people to become conversationalists who will then have conversations with people across the Island to understand what it is that keeps them happy and healthy and what more could be done to support them.
- We will work with organisations across the Island to run Big Conversation events so that we are able to hear from people directly.
- People will also be able to anonymously share their thoughts and ideas with us via our website, email and phone.
- It is not just about conversations, some people may for example want to share photographs or art with us that details what keeps them happy and healthy.
Once we have gathered all the information and ideas that people provide us with, we will share it anonymously with the council so that they can use it to develop their Happy, Healthy, Lives Strategy.
We will also share it back to people and communities on the Island.
